Lufthansa Systems is one of the leading information technology service providers for the airline and aviation industries worldwide. Since data is at the heart of IT service, the manager of enterprise storage management felt that data protection is key. Because Lufthansa Systems is a full service provider, their knowledge of the proven technology of the PowderHorn tape library made them take a look at StorageTek's new StreamLine data protection and archive solutions technology. The SL8500 modular library system had the same or better quality as the PowderHorn. Because of the company's history with the PowderHorn 9310 tape library, the SL8500 was the next logical step for Lufthansa.
