Overview:
The Home Office launched the Chipping of Goods Initiative in March 2000 to show how property crime can be reduced throughout the retail supply chain using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) based information management systems. This case study describes how Allied Domecq Wines and Spirits, De La Rue Brand Protection, Chep International and APT Smart Solutions developed a system using combined technologies to uniquely identify individual bottles of whisky and track them through the supply chain.
