Overview:

Decisions regarding data acquisition should involve a cost/benefit analysis. While cost identification usually is easy, determining the value gained from new data is especially difficult when the benefits are mostly indirect. This is the case with 4D-seismic projects in which the main contribution is to reservoir and production management. This paper describes the decision-tree process used in the life of complex seismic (LOCS) value-of-information study.
