Overview:
This white paper presents the results of a competitive benchmark of the Retek Demand Forecasting application on an IBM pSeries server against SUN. Overall batch run times, CPU and disk related metrics as well as the detailed HW and AIX configuration are provided. The goal of this benchmark was to demonstrate that an IBM pSeries p570 server with at most 6 x 1.9GHz CPUs could run the weekly forecast batch workload in the same or less time than the current existing customer production system consisting of a SUN Fire E15K server with 18 x 900MHz CPUs and 32GB of RAM.
