Overview:
This paper presents and analyzes adaptive fragmentation algorithms for enhancing throughput performance under a slow fading channel. It first studies the similarities between the TCP protocol and MAC protocol. Next, it proposes an adaptive approach to change the fragmentation size dynamically according to variations of the wireless channel quality. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms can greatly improve the throughput performance of the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN.
