In its third major release, J2EE technology has proven to be a very successful platform for development and deployment of enterprise applications and services that are portable across a wide variety of hardware, operating systems, and middleware products. With the addition of significant support for Web Services, J2EE 1.4 is positioned as the premier platform for Service Oriented Architecture implementations.
