Overview:

Encouraging military leaders to look at the business aspects of war is not always an easy task, but the U.S. Navy does it with an activity-based cost management (ABC/M) program that utilizes SAS Activity-Based Management software. Using ABC/M financial intelligence to break down costs by individual activities, leaders identify resource shortfalls, recognize opportunities for outsourcing, discover new areas for reimbursement and realign resources to focus on core missions. With the Web-enabled solution, all CNI program directors can log into the system and explore their own costs to see exactly what was spent and how it was spent.
