Overview:
For high-performance parallel-processing applications, Beowulf clusters that comprise industry-standard, two-processor and four processor servers can be a cost-effective alternative to symmetric multiprocessing computer systems and supercomputers. This paper discusses NPACI Rocks, an open source cluster computing software stack that can be used to improve the deployment, management, and maintenance of Beowulf clusters.
