Overview:
"One-to-one computing" describes an educational scenario in which every student, teacher, and staff member is provided with a portable laptop, notebook, or tablet PC for use both in the classroom and at home. Although many such programs are still in their infancy, one-to-one computing initiatives have already been shown to benefit K-12 students by:
- Improving their learning environments
- Encouraging greater communication between their parents and teachers
- Developing their computer skills
- Creating equal educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged students
