Overview:
Transportation service operators manage multiple networks that enable a variety of operations and business applications. The majority of these networks were built on Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), Synchronous Optical Network (SONET), Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), or frame relay technologies. But Ethernet/IP-based applications are integrated to support advanced operations and business communications requirements, transportation operators have to transform their networks to support real-time rich content, taking advantage of the new enabling technologies to reduce capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operating expenditures (OPEX). A Mission Critical Wide Area Networks Infrastructure (MCWANI) enables flexibility for applications with innovative technologies, such as Zero Touch Photonics, Packet Optical Transport Systems, and Microwave Packet Radios, and provides the flexibility, effectiveness and resiliency required to enable true network convergence.
