Overview:
A recent survey of 1,200 corporate Internet users showed that 77 percent of employees use social networks. And while their employers believe that only 10 percent of them use IPTV in the workplace, the true figure is actually 78 percent. Data points that further support the Internet has changed significantly in the last few years. These changes are being driven, in part, by social Internet services such as Facebook and MySpace, as well as a growing range of micro-blogging and IM applications alongside increasingly popular applications like IPTV. Whether one like it or not, a new social generation is increasingly using these applications, often without the knowledge of the IT team and evading the conventional security safeguards that most companies employ.
