This paper briefly describes support for the Unified Extended Firmware Interface (UEFI) in the Windows family of operating systems and includes a brief discussion of related technical issues. This information applies for the operating systems like Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista. UEFI is the next-generation firmware model and is expected to replace BIOS in the coming decade.
