Overview:

With this proof of concept, HP and SAP showed that by using HP StorageWorks System Copy for SAP software to create a stable point-in-time copy of the production system, and then using SAP TDMS software to extract a consistent subset of data from this point-in-time image, it is possible to create a new system that is not only a constant representation of production, but also achieve substantial savings on storage space (The exact amount of storage saved is dependent upon the configured TDMS parameters which determines the amount of data to select from the sender system based upon a specific time frame). The entire processes can be performed without any impact to the production system, or affect to the availability of the production system.
