Overview:

O2 is a part of Telefónica, which was originally established as Companiia Telefónica Nacional de Espana in 1924 as the Spanish subsidiary of AT&T. It needed to meet the requirements of the EU Data Retention Directive, to meet the demands of other compliance requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, etc. The Event Data Warehouse has been specifically designed to ingest and store large volumes of event data (such as log data, CDRs and so on) for compliance purposes and to support (forensic) analysis, reporting and alerting. It uses a column-based relational database that is predicated upon the fact that it will be storing time-stamped information.
