Overview:

Electric power companies face increasing regulatory requirements, including NERC CIP, Sarbanes Oxley and others. To maintain these regulations can be costly and time-consuming. Moreover, 2009 is a critical year for energy and utility companies as The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) regulations require that utilities be "compliant" by July 1, 2009 and "Auditably compliant" by July 1, 2010. The pressure is on for utilities to implement effective cyber-security solutions or potentially face fines and other penalties depending on their level of non-compliance.
