Overview:

Microsoft SharePoint 2007 is the latest version of server-based collaboration software from Microsoft, promising to connect people, processes, and information. It comprises two main components: 1) the core Windows SharePoint Services (WSS 3.0), which include the content repository, libraries, and services, making it accessible to a distributed user population and applications; and 2) the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS), which encompasses a number of applications and interfaces on top of the repository. With the release of this new SharePoint offering, organizations are provided with more and more capabilities above and beyond the basic content repository for which it was first used.
