Overview:
This paper provides concepts and procedures that will help successfully consolidate Microsoft SQL Server instances from multiple machines onto a single Windows Server 2008 system using Microsoft's Hyper-V. This paper uses the Dell PowerEdge R900 and PowerEdge R905 as target servers. Depending on the version of SQL Server are using (2000, 2005, or 2008), please refer to the accompanying Guide for the specifics that will help complete the migration process. This paper covers the key overall concepts and procedures need to setup and configure virtualized Hyper-V platform.
