Overview:

USB 3.0 is an emerging technology that will enhance the current USB 2.0 standard in numerous ways. The demand for large hard drives and devices, such as cameras and jump drives, in recent years has led to the bottleneck of the speed of USB 2.0 corresponding to the USB devices. To resolve this issue, USB 3.0 is being implemented in late 2009. This paper presents a general overview of USB 3.0 standard, its enhancements from USB 2.0 standard, the USB 3.0 architecture, and its current challenges. Other issues relating to USB 3.0 technology will also be addressed.
