Overview:

This paper describes the procedure to deploy MySQL database infrastructure over CIFS protocol. This example uses a Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System and a Sun Fire server running Microsoft Windows 2003 Server. (In this case, Sun Storage 7210 Unified Storage System was used, but the procedure is also applicable to the other products in this family.) MySQL can automatically attach the storage system-based volume with the data files of the MySQL databases upon startup, and the MySQL service is configured to use a user account that is centrally defined in a Microsoft Active Directory structure, which has been granted access to the CIFS share on the storage system.
