Overview:
Little has more than 10 terabytes of data that it needs to search on a regular basis to serve its clients, and thought that a Google appliance was the way to provide that ability - the price, however, was deemed unaffordable. Instead, Little got the search capability it would have gotten from Google, and more, with a technology that it already licensed: enterprise search capability in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. The use of enterprise search helps employees find information that may have been created long before they joined the company, helps the company collaborate more successfully with its clients through the use of searchable extranets, and helps the firm save time worth up to U.S. $1.8 million per year in billings.
