Overview:
The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Standards for Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP-002 through CJP-009), provide a cyber security framework for identification and protection of Critical Cyber Assets to support reliable operation of Bulk Electric System. Assets and information commonly identified as critical include SCADA systems, plant management systems and sensitive data repositories which could be leveraged to launch an attack against a facility or system. The risks and threats to owners and operators of critical infrastructure are real and the costs of non-compliance with the NERC standards are only rising.
