Overview:

Osterman Research believes that most organizations are waking up to the fact that they need to implement DLP capabilities. Outbound content sent from any communications tools or stored on laptops and removable storage devices must be monitored and managed in order to minimize risk and to ensure that the content is appropriate and in compliance with an organization's policies, statutory obligations and industry best practices. Organizations should monitor all avenues through which employees may communicate, including email, instant messaging systems, wikis, blogs, personal Webmail accounts, USB devices, message boards and other tools. The appropriate policies should be established and systems should be deployed so that an organization's risk can be mitigated to the extent possible.
