Overview:
Over the past few years, email has emerged as the primary vector for an array of computer threats such as spam, viruses, Trojans, and phishing attacks. With the capability to mass-mail on a global scale, attackers broadcast an average of 40,000 computer security threats each day ? 15 million each year. According to Ferris Research, between lost productivity and the costs of help desk operations, spam cost U.S. businesses $35 billion in 2007. One of the major reasons for this success is that most security software lacks the capability to adapt quickly to the ever changing threat landscape. Spammers and malware authors of other computer threats continuously refine their distribution efforts, to propagate their threats as widely as possible.
