Overview:
Denial of Service attacks aims to overwhelm a server or a network in order to paralyze its normal activity. Today, most organisations provide services over the internet hence an attack which targets their resources on the Internet can be lethal. This paper briefly studies the various types of DoS attacks and their possible remedies. They then look in detail, at two defense strategies, namely, Source Path Isolation Engine and the Parallel Attack Diagnosis.
