Overview:
In anticipation of opening a new 15-story building on its main campus that would house an additional 700 beds, Asan Medical Center wanted to upgrade its wireless LAN infrastructure in order to support new productivity-boosting applications. The hospital was using a centrally controlled Wireless LAN (WLAN) from Cisco, but required a platform that was reliable, cost-effective, and easily scalable to support high-performing real-time applications such as voice-over-Wi-Fi and access to electronic medical records. After an extensive evaluation of major WLAN vendors, AMC selected HP ProCurve to implement a new wireless network throughout its campus. HP ProCurve emerged as the vendor of choice due to its Quality of Service (QoS) for voice-over-Wi-Fi, seamless roaming capabilities, rock-solid wireless security, and ability to support 802.11n applications and devices.
